Lip Up Fatty
We dined next door in Mrs Cyclist Hater's restaurant. She and her husband thawed during the evening thanks to our boyish charms and we even got a smile or two before we left. MR CH handed us menus and gave us his recommendation...grilled pork in garlic and we decided that would do, which was lucky because it quickly became apparent that the Portuguese word for 'recommended' actually means 'this is what you are getting whether you want it or not'.
It is common for main courses here to come with 2 forms of carb...rice and chips being the usual.  Our meal came with chips and a regional speciality which should be called Mushy Bread (perhaps it is!).  Take some bread crumbs, soak them in water, add a bit of colouring but, and this is crucial, absolutely no flavouring.  Warm slightly and serve.  It isn't as delicious as it sounds!
Today was another belter with clear blue skies, highs in the twenties and quiet roads.  There were a few more hills than was ideal but I am coping well thanks to a recent lard-reduction programme.
Neil is smaller than me, thinner than me, has a more powerful engine and actually does some training so I am always at a considerable disadvantage.   Back in July I resumed my special, patented, 2-step 'lose weight or your money back' weight-loss programme*    It goes like this:
STEP 1 - Consume fewer calories than you burn
STEP 2 - Be patient and prepare to feel hungry
It is literally physically impossible to not lose weight if followed properly and I am 22lbs lighter than I would have been without it.  A couple of days with Norovirus was the icing on the weight-loss cake.
We are now in Evora, fast becoming my 2nd home as this is my 3rd visit this year.  We have  checked into our hotel but not actually made it to a room yet due to the siren call of the bar.  Tomorrow we head into Spain and it looks like the weather gods may be abandoning us.  Bugger.
*please feel free to use this programme but make a donation to a charity  of your choice when it works
