Happy Birthday

It was Plum's 60th birthday yesterday......so I made him ride 120 miles.  He swears that 2 miles per year of age is not going to happen ever again.  We also took him out for birthday food and beers.......It was happy hour and pitchers (4 pints) were $4.20!!!  To make matters even better (worse?) they treated the birthday boy to a free one.

Love Hertz

Not!

It is a while since my last confession and much had happened.   After our rest day we faced two extremely uneven days thanks to a problem with a hotel that let us down.  The days should have been 45 miles then 100 but the closed hotel meant we were looking at 25 then 120.  For some this was a step too far and the cunning plan was let them ride the 45 then pick up a Hertz rental car to bus them back to the hotel, then forward again the next morning.  Complicated but workable.....until we arrive at the Hertz depot (the only rental firm in town) to find a sign saying it closed 6 weeks ago.  After two days exchanging messages with the very helpful drones at Hertz I have still been offered no explanation as to why they did not contact me to say there was a problem with my reservation.

We got lucky and found a car we could hire for a day but it was more excitement than I needed.

Theme From The Virginian

We are now in Medicine Bow after a tough 91 miles and a decent hill.  There isn't a whole heap here apart from the historic Virginian Hotel.  Sadly we are in some rather shabby motel units down the street and not the hotel itself.  Medicine Bow's claim to fame is that it was the setting for much of the novel/TV series called The Virginian.....a childhood favourite.

  1. Maybe the theme should be the Bad, the Badder and the Baddest…...
