Night Boat to Cairo

We are lifelong fans of a Chinese Buffet but, in recent years, have discovered an even better 'all you can eat' format.....the Brazilian Rodizio.  You still get masses of food, but the waiters bring it to the table, thus saving time and effort.  The menu is heavily meat-based...ok....entirely meat-based, so not ideal for vegetablists but perfect for hungry cyclists.  There is usually an extensive salad cart to sucker the novice into filling a chop-sized hole with lettuce but pros like us don't fall for that one.

You will see where all this is going, or rather you won't!  Last night we set off for a nearby Rodizio, timing our arrival for the stroke of 8pm when the police grudgingly permit restaurants to open.  What we hadn't considered was that it was Friday night AND Valentines Day....and what says 'I love you' better than taking beloved to an all you can eat meat buffet? Without a reservation we were turned away at the door (but not before booking for the following night).

We were now hungry and walked into the first restaurant we passed....which turned out to be Arabic.  This place was also almost full, but they agreed to feed us if we squeezed the 4 of us onto a 2 person table AND promised to fuck off by 9:30.  To speed the process the waiter just picked up a menu and told us what he was going to serve us.  The food was very good but the bill clearly highlighted the fact that the person ordering the food wasn't paying for it.

Today our last team member arrived and we all shuffled up a bit to make room in the apartment.  Nick and Neil went for a ride up a big hill and Alan and I didn't.  The big hill boys didn't get back until.5:30 which nicely validated my decision to leave them to it.

Tonight we will return to the Rodizio, hoping that yesterday's lovebirds didn't eat all the steak.
