Now That's What I Call Music Vol I

Cold As Ice

I believe I have previously shared my 'ultimate cycle touring tip' with you and yesterday afternoon we put it to good use.  The little grocery store near our hotel sold good beer or cold beer but no good cold beer.  So...grab a few cans...hide them in the freezer behind the choc ices and head to a bar.  Sip a cold beer at bar prices then return to the shop, liberate the (now cold) beer and retire to the hotel.

I make no charge for these incredible life hacks but if you want to show your gratitude please lodge some money in my name at the nearest bar to the Holiday Inn, Gibraltar.

Spice Up Your Life

While we sipped our cold beers and patted ourselves on our backs for our cleverness we scouted the local restaurant scene and concluded that our best bet was Indian.  It got very good reviews, was nearby and, crucially, opened at 7:30.  Actually, if I'm honest, the big draw was that it also appeared that the waiters wore funny costumes and hats.  The only part of this that turned out to be accurate was the location...the curry was mediocre and the funny costumes were just hanging on a rack in the entrance.

Working On The Highway

After our short easy day on gravel it was back to work today with a regulation 57 miler.  Through delicate negotiations with the shop steward (we took him out and got him pissed) the legs have agreed to provide a bit more thrust and to stop injecting lactic acid into my thighs, provided I agree to go easy on the hills.  I'm good at going easy on the hills.

It was another fabulous day.  The hills were benign, the sun was...err...sunny and the scenery was pretty.

Half Way to Paradise

If you have ever been to Gibraltar you will appreciate just how much poetic licence I am using here but, yes, we are half way.  Actually a little more.  The exact half way point, and the day's high spot...well technically the low spot...was crossing the River Tagus.

Golden Brown

Here in the interior of Spain everything is very dry.  The fields are brown and the lakes and reservoirs are very low.  Looking at the weather forecast all their problems will be over on Monday...more about that in a couple of days!

Elected

Congratulations to the Democrats and all sane Americans!  However, there was one big disappointment...what a pity that Keisha Lance Bottom isn't a Republican.  Bottom Trump is ticket I would pay good money to see run in 2028!
