Nu noem ik dat muziek vijf
We aren't actually in clogland yet but the border is just down the road.
On The Road Again
It wasn't hard to tell when we crossed from East to West Germany. There is a small sign but the unmistakable clue was the start of a stretch of magnificent freshly layed tarmac. It was possibly the smoothest bit of road I have ever cycled on and a huge raised finger to the East Germans and their crappy cobbles.
We haven't seen a single cobble since then!
Map of The Problematique
Since leaving Prague we no longer have the Paneuropa Radweg to follow. Instead we are following a route created using Google Maps. For this there is a a 'cycling mode' which supposedly serves up nice cycle-friendly roads.......except someone on Google's mapping team has decided that all bikes are mountain bikes and that a cyclist likes nothing more than a bit of off-roading.
Most of the time it works fine bit occassionaly a road peters out into a a vague line across a field or worse:
Dog Days Are Over
Last night we stayed in a very nice holiday apartment. Lovely, that is, apart from being in the absolute middle of nowhere. With nothing to eat and no nearby restaurants we had to improvise for dinner. Neil found an apple and I found a Labrador so we had a lovely roast suckling dog. I even found some olive oil and spices in the cupboard and the crackling was AMAZING!
Throw Away Your Television
I know that TV is known as the 'small screen' but this is f@#$£ng ridiculous. We are in Nordhorn and staying in a hotel attached the local sports hall. The room is large with a high ceiling resulting in plenty of wall space for a big plasma TV but THIS is what they have given us. We are about out to go shopping for some binoculars so we can watch BBC World.
